April 2008

On March 18th, I was elected Mayor of Greenwich, NY. Because so many of my clients are local, I've added a complete client list on my campaign site in an effort to eliminate any conflicts of interest.

A couple of new sites recently went live; North Country Physical Therapy and Edward Dowling & Associates. Last month I took over management of Boyd Research.

February 2008

It's time for another walk down the plank . . . petitions have been filed for a run for Mayor of Greenwich, New York. I'm running on an Open Government slate, with Cathy Brown and Lyle Hayes running for Trustee.

An e-commerce site was recently launched by Dabanga Jewelry.

The photograph to the right was taken in the South Bronx, a few months prior to Jimmy Carter's visit in 1977.

December 2007

The mice living in our basement have a sweet tooth; they love chocolate!

During the fall I took over management of the national web site for the Green Party in addition to my on-going volunteer position as Photo Editor for Green Pages. Contradictions continue as I'm now a member of the IWW,while continuing to serve as a Board member for the Greenwich Chamber of Commerce.

Some recent sites include Ruth A. Ihne, Alpha Omega Publishing, Draft Nader and blogs for writings & photography from Main Street and Green Pages.

September 2007

As always, the summer disappears too quickly.

I traveled to Maine twice this summer. Once for an impeachment rally in Kennebunkport and once to meet with a client in Rockland. I also spent four days in Reading, PA. for the Green Party annual conference.

Our niece Molly & her boyfriend Andrew moved from San Diego to Boston in August. Their apartment is only a few blocks away from our son.

The man in the photo to the right is Inga's father-in-law. Inga was born in Latvia. When she was a child, her family traveled to Germany. While there, Latvia declared it's independence and because her family never returned to acquire new documention, Inga became stateless. She's currently being held by the INS, which has no country to deport her to. iTunes carries some of her music.

May 2007

I'm sitting in a BNI meeting at the Greenwich Library doing a live demo.

Two sites have gone live recently, Hudson Crossing Park and focus on flowers.

Last week while traveling through North Adams, Massachusetts we came across this sign. It was not a warning for a speed trap or dwi check, but for a construction zone. If nothing else, it gave us a chuckle.

September 2006

We're in Montreal, celebrating Jude's 50th birthday, staying in the most elegant hotel imaginable, the Hotel Nelligan. Jeanne Lefebvre, the Chef Concierge had fresh flowers, chocolate truffles and Champagne on ice waiting for us upon arrival. The room took Jude's breath away.

Four new sites went live recently. Ann Kearney is a superb jewelry designer from Cambridge, NY. Most of her site is only viewable for her vendors, so you'll have to take my word for it. But you can visit her store / studio in Cambridge and see for yourself. Circle motorcar is the newest business in town. Stop in and say hi to Jeff & Tina, two of the nicest people I know.

Howie Hawkins is the Green Party candidate for US Senate, the only anti-war candidate in the race and worthy of everyone's vote. Finally, a small site has been developed for Gary Tyler. He was wrongly convicted of murder in 1975. At the time of his conviction he was 15 and had the dubious distinction of being the youngest person in America on death row. Amnesty International has called him a political prisoner. I remember marching in solidarity with him in the late 1970's; it's unbelievable that his conviction has yet to be overturned.

June 2006

Derby Trail went live in early May. It's a site for Steve Byk, a horse racing handicapper and co-host of At The Races and Beyond, broadcast daily on Sirius.

Finally got to see the Red Sox play at Fenway, thanks to my son Andy. Great game. Too bad David Wells took one off the knee.

Three photos were included in the alumni show at Cooper Union. Next up is an exhibit of protest photos at the Rock Hill Bakehouse in Glens Falls, NY in August.

Slowly beginning to work with film again, using a World War II era, Agfa 6x6 camera. I've also been spending a lot of time walking the streets of New York and Boston, camera in hand. I hadn't been to the financial district since the late '70's. The changes since 9/11 were dramatic; streets closed, barriers beside the Stock Exchange and police and security guards all over the place. I felt like I was walking in a space between wars.

May 2006

Three sites went live recently; Peckham Industries of White Plains, NY, Anthony's Pier 4 Cafe & Hawthorne By The Sea Restaurant in Swampscott, MA and the Seven Bridges Pool and Tennis Club located in Chappaqua, NY.

On May 1 I traveled to New York City for the Day Without Immigrants rally at Union Square.

Should you find yourself passing through Greenwich, make sure to make a stop for coffee at Something's Brewing on Main Street. A half a dozen vintage photographs of mine from the 1970's are currently on display.

My son's band, Protean Collective, is playing at the Paradise on May 19 in Boston. It's the semi-final round of the Emergenza Festival. Support Live Music!

January 2006

In November my mom was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. She's 84 and has survived lung cancer and the loss of one her legs. Rather than deal with radiation and chemotherapy, mom has decided to let nature take it's course.

In happier news, the band my oldest son is in, Protean Collective, is playing regularly in Boston and Providence. Currently they're in the studio recording their first CD. Details to come.

I have two photographs in the New Work for the New Year exhibit at LARAC in Glens Falls, New York.

Recently completed was a site for Something's Brewing, my favorite coffee shop. Launching next week is Growing Old In East LA.

September 2005

The month began as we dropped our oldest son off at college in Boston. Within three weeks he was in a band. The end of the month found Jude & I in DC for the anti-war march, photos of which can be found here.

August 2005

I'll be participating in a group photography show at the Riverfront Studios in Schuylerville,New York in November. Details to follow. New sites include W.E. Dailey. Son #1 leaves for Berklee at the end of the month.

June 2005

Three new sites launched at the beginning of June. Anthony's Pier 4, Esmond Lyons for Mayor and Union Village, Ltd. One photograph (Anti-Landscape #2) is included in the "Adirondack State of Mind" exhibition at The Lapham Gallery in Glens Falls, NY.

May 2005

20 photographs from Found Tableaux were on display as part of a group show at The Lapham Gallery in Glens Falls, NY.  One photograph was included in the 27th Annual Photography Regional at Albany Center Galleries.

Added in October 2004 were 4 new photo essays titled Bad Architecture, Religious Lawn Ornaments, Road Kill and Washington County. A series of reviews of photographer's websites was also added.

The Story So Far

In August 2001, after 24 years of working for a paycheck, I left the safety of steady employment in the rear view mirror and headed off for the local coffee bar. It was time to become a stay-at-home dad and raise my children full time. How in the world did I survive those 24 years without an afternoon nap?

As my hair turns greyer and the numeral 50 is in the rear view mirror, I find myself starting life all over again. What better way to spend that new leisure time than to start a freelance career. Should someone stumble across this site who's in the need for graphics or web design help, don't hesitate to contact moi. I'll do anything to escape ironing.

In between household chores and glasses of Chianti, when not reading New Left Review or shoveling the roof, I'll be relaxing in front of the laptop, coding away, faux coffee in hand. Go on, send me some work, keep me out of trouble.
