CURRENT WORK The Street ARCHIVAL WORK
|
The Street
During the mid to late 1970's I lived in New York City and Hoboken and photographing what I found on city streets became my creative focus. For the past fifteen years I have lived in a village of 2,000 people in rural Washington County, New York. Our county has neither enclosed malls nor four lane roads. During spring and summer, farm tractors drive up and down Main Street in front of our house. But we're not really a small town; we have two traffic lights after all, but one thing we do lack is large amounts of people walking our streets. During recent vacations, I rediscoverd the joy of walking the streets of major cities, camera in hand. In recent months, I've made a number to trips to Boston and New York, specifically to photograph. In years past, I would see something, shoot and walk on. While my current work is approached the same way, I also find myself seeing something, usually a billboard or bus stop poster, and stopping and waiting for someone to walk past and interact with it in a conscious or un-conscious way. Newest photographs are sorted first. |
