Trenton

In my 48 years, I've lived in 16 different houses and apartments in 14 different cities. The past ten years have been spent in Greenwich, NY, the longest I've ever continuously lived in one house. Yet I still think of Trenton New Jersey as home. It's where I graduated from high school, met my wife and where my children were born.

Trenton is an old, industrial city, whose best days are long in the past. It was once home to a thriving pottery industry, including firms such as Lenox, Cybis and Trenton Pottery. Today, all of the potteries are either out of business or have moved to the suburbs. That tradition has entirely disappeared. The Johnson Atelier, established some 15 years ago, is home to both an incredible museum and a school/foundry for schulpters.

While it's industrial base has disappeared, being the state capital has no doubt prevented Trenton from becoming another Camden or Newark. What I love best about the city are it's neighborhoods - Chambersburg, South Trenton & West Trenton. The photographs here are a mixture of streetscapes and suburban scenes.
