View Camera

For a brief period in the mid to late 1980's I worked with a view camera.

The camera was bonus from my employer. I was being paid straight salary with no overtime. From time to time, the boss would reward extra hours with various types of bonus's. After a stretch of long hours, the owner told me to pick out a new camera and send him the bill. I made a critical error when purchasing the camera - instead of choosing a field camera, I choose a studio model. While it was a great camera, it was far too heavy to lug around.

While I enjoyed working slowly and deliberatly, the weight of the camera and tripod was too much of an impediment. Someday I hope to pick up an old, wooden field camera.
